Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now shipping the new energy-efficient i.MX 91 applications processors from NXP® Semiconductors. The i.MX 91 processors enable the rapid development of Linux-based edge devices for smart home, consumer, industrial, and medical applications.
The NXP Semiconductors energy-efficient i.MX 91 system-on-chips (SoCs), available from Mouser, are high-performance, affordable, secure solutions for evolving protocols and emerging standards. The i.MX 91 family is part of the i.MX portfolio of applications processors, featuring an Arm® Cortex®-A55 running at up to 1.4 GHz, support for platform longevity with LPDDR4 memory, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, dual USB ports, and a rich set of peripherals. Supported by NXP’s product longevity program, the i.MX 91 SoCs, integrated with EdgeLock® Secure Enclave (Advanced Profile), supply security features, including lifecycle management, tamper detection, secure boot, and a simplified certification path with consumer/industrial qualifications, targeting the medical, industrial, and consumer IoT market segments.
Mouser also stocks the NXP Semiconductors FRDM-IMX91S development board, which is designed to evaluate the i.MX 91 applications processor for Linux®-based edge devices. The FRDM-i.MX 91S integrates an NXP PF9453 PMIC and an IW610-based tri-radio module providing Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth® LE 5.4, and IEEE 802.15.4 connectivity. It includes support for Yocto-based Linux and Debian images. It includes 256 MB NAND with direct NAND boot and a lightweight, reliability-tuned filesystem that minimizes resources—its small footprint maximizes usable storage and keeps operation efficient. This development board is also designed for entry-level Linux® use case evaluation, enabling developers to accelerate product development while significantly reducing cost.
The NXP Semiconductors i.MX 91 Evaluation Kit, available from Mouser, is designed for evaluating i.MX 91 processor applications and measuring power consumption on power rails. The NXP Semiconductors
i.MX 91 kit consists of two interconnected boards: a compute module and a connectivity baseboard. The compute module, built with standard 6-layer technology, features an i.MX 91 SoC, 2GB LPDDR4, 16GB eMMC, NXP’s PMIC (PCA9451A), and power monitoring circuits. The connectivity baseboard features a standard M.2 KEY-E slot, enabling off-the-shelf connectivity modules, including NXP’s IW610-based Wi-Fi®/Bluetooth® options. It includes the GoPoint application, which allows designers to explore pre-installed demos, providing an excellent foundation for accelerating design development.
