NXP Semiconductors’ i.MX RT1180 Microcontrollers, Now at Mouser, Offer Advanced Security for Ethernet and Industry 4.0/5.0 Applications

    -

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components™, is now stocking the i.MX RT1180 crossover microcontrollers (MCUs) from NXP® Semiconductors. The dual-core, real-time MCUs feature a high-performance Arm® Cortex®-M7 core operating at up to 800 MHz and a Cortex-M33 operating at up to 300 MHz. The NXP i.MX RT1180 MCUs are designed for a range of applications, including industrial and building automation, motion control and robotics, motor drives, programmable logic controllers and remote I/Os, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The NXP i.MX RT1180 crossover MCUs, now available at Mouser, feature industrial gateway capabilities, supporting PROFINET®, EtherCAT®, EtherNet/IP™, and other industrial real-time protocols. The NXP i.MX RT1180 also features options that include professional networking stacks, following NXP’s acquisition of port GmbH in 2025. The NXP i.MX RT1180 series also supports time-sensitive networking (TSN) protocols through a state-of-the-art Ethernet switch subsystem and 1.5 MB on-chip RAM protected by error-correcting code (ECC). The NXP i.MX RT1180 MCUs feature an integrated power management module with DC-DC and Low-Dropout (LDO) regulators, reducing the complexity of the external power supply and simplifying power sequencing. The MCUs offer advanced security with an integrated EdgeLock® Secure Enclave, a Physical Unclonable Function (PUF), On-The-Fly AES Decryption (OTFAD), a Trusted Resource Domain Controller (TRDC), a Battery Backed Security Module (BBSM), and an Inline Encryption Engine (IEE). The NXP i.MX RT1180 crossover MCUs feature an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

The MIMXRT1180-EVK evaluation kit and the FRDM-IMXRT1186 development board, both also available from Mouser, provide extendable platforms to demonstrate the features of the NXP i.MX RT1180 MCUs. The Remote I/O Platform (RIOP) (PLCIOKIT) is designed to enable prototyping of high-precision data-acquisition and secure, multi-protocol connectivity solutions based on the NXP i.MX RT1180 series.
